Insecurities of Life

Feeling Insecure?  Good!

“Good!?…Now that’s not very nice…you might say!”
We are & will be insecure people when we rely on our ‘own’ will/mind and our ‘own’ strength.
Every one of us is born with a ‘will’…a ‘will’ to live…to have a sense of meaning and direction, we set our minds on a course and we hope it is the right one!
In our own strength we walk out this ‘course’ daily, from infancy to childhood to adulthood…getting an education, choosing a career, starting a family, and we feel a sense of accomplishment as we work towards these goals!
Building & climbing the “ladder” of life brings with it a feeling of satisfaction, when we look to see what we have accomplished & accumulated through the years.
But wait a minute…LIFE HAPPENS!”  …we get sick, we lose our job, we work towards a home purchase and then the economy makes a major turn and you can’t make the payments anymore, your mate who you have shared life with….has found a “significant other” and decides to leave you and the kids!  A loss of life in the family or worse yet…your immediate family!  A best friend becomes distant? Why…what happened? An airplane comes crashing down with 250 passengers, retirement has ‘finally’ come and your life partner was just diagnosed with a very serious sickness, what now?   LIFE Happens!
Some people have had an abusive upbringing, a young child who should have been protected by the parent(s) was not, and the child can’t escape from this abuse, so’ sad and it happens…we try to find comfort… – choices are being made, self-abusive choices, to find comfort and we come to realize we are controlled by these “choices” we’ve made, but the pain still doesn’t go away!  LIFE Happens!
Yes we try to mend, we try to fix, and we try in our own strength to “deal with it” as friends would say!  But somehow we can’t get free of it – it hurts, we’re discouraged, we have lost hope.  Oh, such a hard place to be…and so many of us can relate because life takes its toll!
We begin to see the frailty of this life we live in – we begin to realize “LIFE is temporary” suddenly ‘one day’…everything changes…forever it has…NEVER to be the same again!
That really makes us feel insecure…we can’t rely that things will stay the same…because it doesn’t.  It was a major wake up call, a kind of a slap in my face…when it happened to me!  My divorce after 15 years of marriage, then a few years later, my oldest son moves out to live with his father, clear on the other side of the world!  Then 2 years later the other boy too wants to leave and join his brother and father!  Then some years later my oldest son had an accident!  He was riding his motorbike and he dodged out on his motorbike crossing a busy street and was hit by oncoming car…breaking both his legs!  He was rushed to surgery, and yes, both legs were mended…but he died!  He never came out of the anesthesia…Suddenly “LIFE Happens!”
No one would want any of this to happen…but it does…and we will have to face it and deal with it.

Thankfully there is hope!  Yes there is a way to deal with it.  But it is a “filling” that comes into us!
There are three parts to our makeup: yes we have a will/mind, which is our soul, we live in this body, and we have a spirit.
But something happened a long time ago that severed our ‘spirit’ part of our make-up!
A long time ago there was a beautiful garden, and in that garden, God put man in it and gave man a woman and together they enjoyed everything they needed to survive and live life with a daily relationship with God, their Creator!  Yes, they had a spirit relationship with their Creator.  Regretfully though, woman & man were enticed by the enemy of life and sin came into this beautiful perfect place.
In this garden God had two trees.  One tree was called the ‘tree of life’, the other tree was the ‘tree of the knowledge of good & evil’.  God instructed Adam & Eve not to take the fruit from the tree of the knowledge good and evil.  Any and all the other trees in the garden were for their pleasure and need to eat and it was good.
But this one tree was a big “no-no! -DO NOT TOUCH”  There was a snake in the garden and yes it was satan the enemy of our life…and he persuaded Eve to take and eat the fruit of this particular tree, and Eve looked upon this fruit and satan began to question her about it.  Through the snake’s enticement and questioning her, Eve took the attractive fruit and also gave it to Adam!  Suddenly their eyes were opened to the knowledge & knowing of good and evil and they saw their nakedness and felt shame!
God had to kill an animal to cloth them, blood was shed to cover them.  Sin had entered into the world….the knowledge of good and evil.
From that very moment in time, and throughout all the generations, every human born would be born “in sin”
God had to usher Adam and Eve out of that garden, and do you know why He did that?  Because that other tree “the tree of life” was still in that garden and if they had later taken a fruit from that tree – Adam and Eve would have forever stayed in that eternal “separation” from a holy God who created them.  Life in sin is separation from God.  God created Adam & Eve to be in relationship with Him – the spirit of Adam and Eve was in relationship with the spirit and personhood of God.  They walked and talked in that perfect garden.  But sadly with this severing and sin – there was a brokenness in the relationship with their Creator God, Adam and Eve was no longer in the spirit relationship with God!
In God’s great love – He clothed them and directed them out of the garden.  You know about the first two children they had?  Cain and Abel?  Cain killed Abel because of jealousy.  Immediately there was sin in the next generation born to them!
From that day forward the world we live in, as it is, has become an imperfect world….yes…all of us… we’re all in the same “boat”.   We are not sinners because we sin, we sin because we were are all born sinners!  Sin came into the world and with it came aging, sickness, disease and finally death!
We were all created with a “free-will” a will to make our own choices!
It was God’s doing and plan to make us so!  We are created with a free will to choose and make decisions for ourselves. We are not puppets on a string that He manipulatives!  No, He give us a free will to choose for ourselves how we choose to live!  That is called grace!  Grace to live and make choices and decisions.
So the spirit man in us was separated in that garden and each and every one of us have to have a “re-birthing” happen in us to reconnect again with God!  The spirit man in us – is in need of wanting and longing to be reunited with our spirit God.
There is this gaping hole in every ones heart that can only be filled with a relationship with God!  We are needy people searching, longing, seeking far and wide, to fill that “hole” in our heart, to have fulfillment and contentment and completeness…and God knows so’ well that we are ever searching for that – every single human being born from that day in the garden till now…they are searching and longing!

The body which once was eternal, is now a body that will die as it grows old.  This body we were born in, a living breathing blood-pumping body, unique and individual, some are born with brown or black hair, another with blue or hazel eyes, some are tall, others short and stocky, some people are Asian, others tan, dark or Caucasian, but each of us are uniquely different and have our own DNA!  We are spread all over the world speaking different languages!  And the very best thing is that we are NOT a copy!  There is no one in this world that has your fingerprints, your traits or personality….YOU are an Original!  There is only “one” you and there will never ever be another “you”!  You are unique with your own personality, your gifting’s, your own sense of humor, your seriousness, your caring way, you are irreplaceable!   And God your Creator has made you so…in His Image you are created…unique!  That’s the way He wanted it and that is the way every human being is created!
Now that should make you and I feel very special right?
 You betcha!

Let me continue –
The soul, which consists of our will/mind, our intellect & emotions is a part of our inner being...our heart…the very being or person we are.
Our soul with a restored spirit will live forever someday…yes can you comprehend that?  Forever?

Thankfully God had a plan to reunite mankind to Himself!  God who gave us this “free will” also has a plan to re-unite us again!  Having had a daily relationship with Adam & Eve in the garden, so He desires it for each and every one of us still!  He longs to have a personal “one to one” relationship with you and me.  Satan the enemy of our soul, brought that separation but God’s desire is to restore His relationship with every human being on earth!
So what did God do to bring back that intimate relationship He had with Adam & Eve?  He came Himself in the form of a child.  Yes He did!
God sent his son to this earth.  God the Spirit filled Mary with child to bring hope to this hurting world.  Jesus came to earth through the womb of Mary by the Holy Spirit.  He came to bring hope, love and forgiveness of sins to the world.  Yes Jesus came to show us his love and care, for each of us.  He lived, he healed and restored hope again.  He walked with mankind in the tough trials of life.  Yes God-Jesus was not born in a fancy hotel in a ritzy part of town, but in a manger with the animals.  He chose to connect with people and came humbly born in a stall!  Jesus walked and talked among the people and was in the likeness of God, yet also the likeness of man, right here on earth!  Jesus purposely choose to come to earth and deliberately went to the cross to die for every one of mankind’s sins!
The wrong choices we have made, the “road of life” we have chosen to take, the unkindness we have done & spoken, the thoughts we have thought and acted out, the bad things that others have done to us personally …Jesus went to the cross to die for the sins of mankind and the separation that God had with His creation because of sin! That is how much God loves you & me, to die and suffer for every single hurt and pain we have experienced in life!
Jesus extended grace and forgiveness even in those last hours on that cross…there was two thieves, one on either side of Him.  The one mocked Him, but the other thief had a different heart…he knew he had sinned and was on that cross because of what he had done.  The thief looked upon this person in the middle…there was something very different about this “Jesus”!  This thief said “Jesus – remember me” and Jesus responded “this day you shall be with me in paradise”   Wow what a hope that brings each and every one of us!  Yes just ask!

And that is exactly what God offers through Jesus.  Jesus went to the cross and died for our sins, and if we believe this…we are filled with His Spirit, once again we are reunited back into relationship with Him, our spirit is made alive again with the Spirit of God!

When we open our hearts as that thief did on the cross – the Holy Spirit comes to dwell in us.  As we open and respond to His calling…His nudging…an overwhelming presence and awareness of God comes in, and yes we will forever be reconnected/rebirthed back to God!  It is God’s plan for you!
Jesus sacrificed His life for you and me, He suffered the pains we have & will experience in this life, He died for you and me on that cross.  He felt the hurt, he experienced the shame, He died for all the cruelty in this fallen and hurting world we live in.
On the 3rd day Jesus was resurrected and lives!  Yes He has gone before us – just as He promised to the thief on the cross over 2000 years ago…Jesus lives and daily strengthen and comforts us through the Holy Spirit within us!  He awaits our day of entering into His Heaven!

We are no longer “insecure” but secure in Christ Jesus!  Secure in a personal relationship with our Creator God through the Holy Spirit, who has come to live within us when we confess and open our hearts to Him!  Yes secure and assured, we can now live this life here on earth with the knowing that we are forever forgiven, and accepted!

Oh what a glorious revelation that is!  It is there for the taking my friend…it is there for the asking.  But you must ask, you must come to a place of understanding that you cannot do it on your own anymore!    God comes in to live with you…and brings with Him the strength of the Holy Spirit to guide you and me and to comfort us and to give us hope and direction!  Always and forever!  He becomes a Father to you…guiding you, comforting you, and daily He gives you and me the strength & power we need for that day!
What a security that is!  And it is offered to each and every one of us all over the world.
Is there anyone else that has died for our sins?  Is there anyone who loves us that much to do that and wipe our sinful history away?  No one!
But God did, and through His son Jesus it is a finished work!

May you know that “this security” is offered freely…One had to suffer…and we only have to accept and believe!

There is a wholeness that occurs and a deep peace and completeness that comes with this gift called salvation.  Oh the Joy of that day!  I personally remember that day so’ vividly…an awakening of a dimension in my soul & spirit that special day….January 2, 1985!  And there is not a day that goes by, that I am so’ aware of God’s presence within me!  He promised He would never leave or forsake me and my friend it is true…and I have that assurance within me!
Believe and accept – Jesus loves you!  He desires to have this kind of relationship with you….He has uniquely created you and desires to be in communion with you on a “spirit” level!
Many have – I pray you too will open your heart to receive the gift that God offers?
Here’s a prayer you can pray:
“Dear God, I am a sinner and I need to be saved from my sins.  I believe that Jesus lived, and died on the cross for my sins and I thank You for that love for me!  Please come into my heart, cleanse me of all my sins, cleanse me Lord!  I believe Jesus died for me on the cross, God, and I am grateful for His sacrifice!  I believe He rose on that 3rd day and awaits for my coming. I receive now Your Holy Spirit – I thank You dear Lord I believe that my name is written from this day forward in the Book of Life– Dear God, guide me from this day forward, I pray this now in Jesus Name, Amen”

God Bless you richly in the days ahead!  Let me pray for you….

“Father I thank you for this one who has prayed this prayer Lord.  I thank You for Your loving concern at this time to have brought my friend to this place in her/his life!  Thank You Lord that when we ask, You always respond.  I thank You for the security and assurance they too will be assured of, from this day forward.  May she/he know without a doubt that You love them dearly and will from this day forward be with them and never ever leave them. May they know that from this moment on their name has been entered into the Book of Life never to be removed again!  May they know that the angels in Heaven are rejoicing for this sinner that has come to you today!  I rejoice with her/him Lord, I thank You for leading them to You!
In Your Name, Jesus, I pray!”
Now that you are in the family of Christ – do find a Bible believing church.  God has an awesome plan for you and the encouragement and friendships with other believers will be a great support to you!

Amazing Grace, how sweet the sound.
That saved a wretch like me....
I once was lost but now am found.
Was blind, but now, I see.
The Lord has promised good to me...
His word my hope secures.
He will my shield and portion be...
as long as life endures.

God's Love for Us - Longest Chapter in The Bible

Psalm 119 (using the King James Version)

Have you read this chapter and really looked at Psalms 119 thoroughly?
It’s the longest chapter in the Bible…176 verses!  Have you ever wondered why this might be?
Have you noticed something consistent through all 176 verses?
One day while reading through it again…I noticed it…yes there are particular words that are continually being used throughout these 176 verses:
Testimonies, statues, laws, word(s), precepts, commandments, the way, judgments.
Have you noticed it too?
I was so struck by it,
I went back through and underlined every one of these words and found there to be more than 190 of them all in this one chapter 119   Wow!  Isn’t that interesting…and fascinating…it sure got my attention!
Why I wondered…reading Psalms 119 again…why such emphasis and then continually through these 176 verses and so’ many times?
God, I believe wanted to make it clear to His readers that “His Word” which is His testimony, His precepts, His commandment, His judgment ARE MOST IMPORTANT!  It is His spoken word, His declaration to us… we…His creation!  To live life by His word is to live in peace, grace and have sense of direction!

In the Book of John, Chapter 1 it is written: “In the Beginning was the Word and the Word was with God, and the Word was God.  The same was in the beginning with God.  All things were made by Him and without Him was not anything made that was made.  In Him was life and the life was the light of men.”

Do you see that God is the Word, and Jesus dwelt with God in Heaven and then came down through birth (as we humans did) and became the “living” breathed/spoken Word=Jesus!
And further on in John 1:14 we read:
”The Word became human and lived among us. We saw His glory. It was the glory that the Father shares with His only Son, a glory full of kindness and truth.”
Yes, pretty neat huh?  That God came down to us through Jesus and shared His great Love for us!  He spoke words of grace and love and forgiveness!  And most importantly, of course, re-unification – by dying on the cross, we His creation were once again (thankfully!) reunited in oneness with our Creator God!
God=Word=Jesus!  God became the spoken word through Jesus when He came to this earth!  So Jesus is God and God is Jesus…The Word!  So as we read His Words on the pages of the Bible….we ARE continually taking in the presence of God, His Word into us…letting His Word reveal to us, ministering truth in us, and restoring us and filling us…and so much more!
John 17:23 in the Bible version - GOD’S WORD Translation (GW), we read what Jesus said in His last hours before the crucifixion:

”I am in them, and You (God) are in me. So they are completely united.  In this way the world knows that You have sent me and that You have loved them in the same way You have loved me.”
So as we read through Psalms 119 – be aware and take in the descriptive words used:
testimonies (a declaration given by a person, evidence in support of a fact or assertion, proof)
statues (a permanent rule made by a body or institution)
laws (any written or positive rule or collection of rules prescribed under authority of state or nation)
word (a spoken or written word)
precepts (a commandment, instruction, or order intended as an authoritative rule of action)
commandments (a divine rule, a rule to be observed, the act or power of commanding)
the way (a method, style, process, technique, system, or manner of doing something)
judgments (an opinion or decision that is based on careful thought, an evaluation of evidence to make a decision)
It’s always helpful to have an understanding of the meaning of words.  As you can see with these definitions of the words above, how very important it is, when reading through chapter 119 and the significance of the words God uses to talk to us through all the 176 verses.  Yes He has given us the resources to understand Him better – if we will read.

Take some time to read through the verses again.  And see how God is ever encouraging us that life is blessed when we make reading His words a part of our daily life.  As we meditate on God’s word, we are actually partaking of Him daily, receiving the power & strength we need for that particular day, receiving the wisdom we need to make right choices in all that life brings us daily, having the inner peace that we need daily in this hectic, crazy world we live in!
Here are just a few really wonderful verses – I have used different versions of the Bible to express better each verse below.

I hope you too, as I did, see through all these verses how God is reaching out to us and saying:

“Read My words, let them wash you and strengthen you!  Allow My words to encourage you daily in your walk & life, oh do you see My child – how I love you and want so much for you to have a strong & steady walk daily while you are living & breathing on this earth?  I will go before you to help you, but read My words because they will open your daily path and bring light to your steps & path, choices & decisions to make every day of your life”

Oh, do enjoy reading Psalm 119 next time around, and see how Your loving God, wants to fill you, equip you, strengthen & encourage you with his living word.  It is yours for the taking & may it be forever an “anchor” for your new day!

God Bless you and be filled with His all-powerful words!
